Looking for good romance books? The Shadow Series is one I would recommend hands down!
Synopsis
This series is about a girl named Violet Archer who is a Radiant. That’s an immortal who thrives upon light. They have been battling the shadows since forever and somehow, Violet was attacked by an umbra that infected her with some darkness. A Shadow’s Kiss. On top of that, she has lost all her memories and has no idea who she is or what’s happened to her.
Everyone in her friend group is trying to find a way to bring her memories back, meanwhile, she has this intimate connection with Elijah, who’s also a radiant.
Because of Violet’s infection, The Elders have decided she be taken over to the shadow court. Elijah doesn’t accept that and decides to sneak her away to find someone that can help her. But while they’re looking for help, The Dark Prince is hunting Violet down.
The Dark Prince eventually captures her, and she gets struck with lightning which causes her to remember everything that’s happened until that point. And that’s the end of the first book!
My thoughts
This series really kept me on my toes! I was trying not to ship Violet with anyone specific because there are so many potential love interests!
The plot is well constructed like there are many moving parts but I feel like they blend well. Like the radiants vs. shadows history, Maxim’s revolution, the Contessa and Marax, The Elders trying to kill Violet, etc. There are a few things I am kind of confused about, but maybe I just need to reread the books to understand.
Other than that, I’m pretty satisfied with how to story ends. I wouldn’t mind a spinoff with Maxim’s story and finding out who his lucky girl is.
